Gerald Ford was chosen by Nixon as vice president and when Nixon stepped down Ford stepped up to presidency without being voted in. When he was president he pardonned Nixon and all of the Vietnam draft dodgers. He was a reason for the US restoring their faith in their government. Jimmy Carter was the 39th president after Gerald Ford. He dealt with the Arab Isreali conflict and hosted the Camp David Accords. Both supported and continued detente.
