Summary
Pearl Harbor is the Japanese attack on the US naval base in Hawaii. It occured on Dec 7th, 1941. This attack was not meant to put USA into war becasue Japan thought that they would not be willing to reclaim the territory because they were too "soft". Their objective was to sink immobilize U.S. battleships and carriers. This almost succeeded but the Japanese made some mistakes; they didn't destory the oil depots, the aircraft carriers were absent and the submarine pens were not destroyes. As a result of this, the USA declared war on Japan, leading to Hitler declaring war on USA.
