summary
In 1957 the Soviets launch the first Earth-orbiting satellite named Sputnik. Sputnik was the size of a basketball and the only thing it was capable of was making beeping sounds. Since the Spitnik was launched, people believed that people feared that atomic weapons would soon be launched without the need of airplanes. People were also scared because it gave the USSR the upper hand. The USA began demanding concessions.
